Who I am

LEADERSHIP + VISION + EXPERIENCE

Cobb, CA., October 2023

Growing up on Cobb Mountain, my deep commitment to community service is a debt of gratitude I owe to my parents and the inspiring example they set, motivating me to step up and assist others. After graduating from Middletown High School, I pursued a bachelor’s degree at the University of California Santa Cruz. I then moved to San Francisco, for a career in commercial real estate, and met my husband, Joel. In 2005, we made the decision to return to Lake County to start our family and offer our children the chance to experience the warmth of a close-knit community and the wonders of a rural upbringing.

In 2015, our lives were forever changed when the Valley Fire reduced our home, along with nearly 2,000 other structures, to ashes. Once the smoke had cleared, we returned with an unwavering commitment to rebuild our home and our community. I immediately started pulling together community members to address the most critical needs, and begin the long journey toward recovery. In 2016, I played a key role in founding the Cobb Area Council and was appointed by the Board of Supervisors, a position I held through 2020. During those four years, our primary focus was on aiding the economic recovery of the Cobb Area and fostering greater community awareness and involvement in fire mitigation and prevention. Since my election to the Board of Supervisors, I have continued this vital work, extending it across District 5 and throughout Lake County.

Today, our family lives in our newly rebuilt home, surrounded by a bustling neighborhood filled with new families. Joel runs our software consulting business, serves on the Cobb Water Board, is president of the Channel Cats, and coaches soccer and mountain biking. We are instilling the values of service in our children, Camille and Asher, who frequently volunteer at community events. On days off, we work in our garden, plant trees, ride bikes, hike, and kayak on the many lakes in our county.

What I find most gratifying about community work, whether it is at the grassroots level or with the Board of Supervisors, is the chance to collaborate with individuals and organizations from diverse backgrounds and build coalitions to drive meaningful change. Our most pressing challenge is the Climate Crisis, and we are diligently working together to confront it head-on.
