Grants play trump card in gambit to secure resiliency support

District 5 Supervisor Jessica Pyska managed to resume efforts recalled Hutchison, as well as District 3 Supervisor Eddie Crandell, who drew from each of their own district discretionary funds to cover the work. “So, we got a list of addresses for defensible space work to proceed in those areas,” Hutchison said. “I’m super thankful to Supervisors Crandell and Pyska’s help to allow us to do that without waiting for the other funding,” Hutchison said.

Rushing: Endorsing Pyska for reelection

As a former member of the Board of Supervisors who has stayed largely silent on local politics for nearly a decade, I feel compelled to break that silence in support of a candidate whom I believe embodies the qualities we desperately need in our leadership today: Jessica Pyska.

Jessica’s collaborative spirit is precisely what our community needs. She understands that true progress is achieved through working together, with no single person seeking individual glory. It is through collective effort and mutual support that we become stronger as a community. Add to that her work ethic, kindness, sensitivity, integrity and her experience as a board member serving her constituents, and you have exactly the leader we need right now.

Comstock: Wholehearted support for Supervisor Jessica Pyska

Since her election, I have witnessed Jessica’s determination and ingenuity in addressing critical, unresolved issues crucial for the county’s progress. Her ability to bring together county staff and multiple agencies and secure funding has yielded tangible results.

Jessica’s competent leadership has earned the confidence of federal and state leaders, paving the way for the awarding of pilot projects that bring funding, job creation, and the potential for new industries in the county. Moreover, her fearless advocacy for our rural values, rooted in her lifelong experience, is being heard at regional, state, and federal levels.

Windrem: Name change process was never intended to do an end run around anyone

In her recent letter captioned “An end run around the Kelseyville community,” Carolyn Jarrett states that, at the suggestion of a retired lawyer, the Citizens for Healing, C4H, filed a proposal to the Board of Geographic Names, or BGN, to change the name of Kelseyville to “Konocti” as an end run around Kelseyville citizens deciding the issue for themselves.

That assertion by Ms. Jarrett is incorrect. I am that lawyer, retired after 50 years of practicing law in Lake County, and here are the facts.

Carlisi: Pyska is the leader we deserve

I recently heard Boone Bridges, candidate for District 5 supervisor, interviewed on a radio show. I was quite shocked when he stated that the current federal and state government spending on high-speed broadband is a “waste of money.”

Surprisingly, as a businessperson, he does not seem to understand the difference between spending and investing.

He also suggests we use the money the county has been awarded for broadband to fix our roads.

Mr. Bridges does not have the most basic concept of how grant funding works. You cannot accept a grant for a specific purpose and then just spend it elsewhere. Trade broadband funding for fixing local roads? Politicians go to jail for less.

Andrus: Saying no to nice

I support Jessica Pyska in her bid to remain supervisor of District 5, where I have lived and cared for my community as a doctor for over 40 years, coached and volunteered, and where my three daughters have chosen to live, work and raise their families.

Ms. Pyska has proven herself to be an effective and hard-working supervisor. There is absolutely no reason to vote to replace her.

Mincer: Leadership for the future of Lake County

I’m sure Daniel “Boone” Bridges is a good man, but having worked closely with many senior leaders of big companies over the last 50 years and having had a chance to talk to Jessica Pyska about the county, I am truly impressed with her leadership skills, intelligence, values, vision and ability to find solutions for the issues we face here in Lake County.

I believe we need leaders like Jessica. Though she doesn’t “brag,” I see the effort and accomplishments she has given Lake County so far and I believe retaining her as one of our leaders will make an important difference as we move into the future.

McCarthy: Show up for Jessica Pyska

Our county was hit with another massive storm two weeks ago, and the sheriff declared a local disaster.

There, in the midst of it all, was District 5 Supervisor Jessica Pyska. She surveyed the damaged area while riding along in a Cal Fire truck. She stopped to check in on neighbors who sustained damage.

She coordinated with PG&E and the Mountain Lions to assist in the setup of a Warming Center and helped get the temporary cell site up. She was there to do whatever she could. She posted and shared information and resources on social media in the following days. She made it her business to meet our needs as best as possible.

Windrem: We need Pyska to continue

She is skilled at bringing different constituencies together and working with them toward the best solutions for the community.

Supervisor Pyska is a perfect example of a locally-raised person who has chosen to put her many skills into leadership for the betterment of all Lake County.

We need her to continue with her work on our behalf. I wholeheartedly support her re-election, and hope that others agree and will vote for her too.

Lee: All in on reelecting Pyska

If you are a candidate who hasn’t spent any time doing the research, what hope do we have that you are prepared in any way for the job of supervisor?

I am making my voting decision based on what the current officer holder has accomplished. It’s the best indicator of their performance once re-elected. And by any measurement, Jessica’s second term will be even more spectacular.

I am all in on reelecting Jessica Pyska for District 5 supervisor.

Benson: Voting for Pyska to continue her work

Jessica Pyska has built upon the community organizing skills she honed after the Valley Fire and in obtaining grant funding for Cobb after the fire, and as Supervisor, she has helped to expand grant funding for all of us in Lake County. Her predecessor had been opposed to travel outside of our area to lobby for funding, but Jessica Pyska has successfully brought dollars home from trips to Sacramento and Washington, D.C. Jessica Pyska seems to take a broad view and looks to the future, and I believe we need that.
